Spring 2017 calls on Morocco

Marhabaan from Morocco! The MV World Odyssey arrived in Casablanca at 0700 on Tuesday, April 11. Casablanca is the second to last port of call for the Spring ’17 voyage. Participants have four days to travel throughout Morocco, a country in Northern Africa famous for its mix of Berber, Arabian and, European influences.

Many voyagers will spend their time strolling through the Sahara desert on camels, exploring cities like Fes and Chaouen (known internationally as “the Blue City”) or enriching the local communities through various IMPACT homestays and school enrichment programs. Check out the video above to see past Semester at Sea voyagers explore Morocco and get a glimpse of what Spring ’17 is set to experience.

The weather will be pleasant with temperatures between 70°F to 75°F. On-ship time is 1800 on Friday, Apr. 14 and the ship will depart at 2000 for the final four-day stretch to Hamburg, Germany where voyagers will disembark.

Amelia Quarto

“I feel really sad that this is our last port because I don’t want to leave the little bubble that we have created for ourselves on the ship and go back to real life. Morocco is definitely going to be a port that I make sure to soak it all in.” — Amelia Quarto, Florida Gulf Coast University

Jacob Sterling

“The fact that within one month I have been to four different countries and seen completely different landscapes and people and cultures is absolutely mind blowing. You can’t really explain that in words, it’s so cool.” – Jacob Sterling, College of Saint Benedict
