Rick Rickertsen

Rick Rickertsen is a Managing Partner of Pine Creek Partners and is the Chairman of the Board.


rick.gifRick Rickertsen is the founder and Managing Partner of Pine Creek Partners, a Washington, DC-based private equity investment firm. Pine Creek specializes in backing managers in acquisitions of small, growing companies. Previously, he was the Chief Operating Officer of Thayer Capital Partners, a DC-based investment firm with over $1.4 billion of private equity capital.

Prior to joining Thayer, Mr. Rickertsen was a partner with Hancock Park Associates, a Los Angeles-based venture capital and management buyout firm specializing in the acquisition of family-held companies. Prior to Hancock Park, Mr. Rickertsen was an Associate with Brentwood Associates, a Los Angeles-based venture capital firm.


Before joining Brentwood, Mr. Rickertsen worked in New York and London in the High Technology Group for Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc., and at Robertson Colman & Stephens in San Francisco.

Mr. Rickertsen received his Master of Business Administration with distinction from Harvard Business School and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering with distinction from Stanford University.

Mr. Rickertsen is the author of Buyout: The Insiders Guide to Buying Your Own Company published by AMACOM books. The book has sold over 20,000 copies and has been translated into Japanese and Russian. He recently published his second book titled Sell Your Business Your way. Mr. Rickertsen is also a contributing writer to the Washington Business Journal and Washington Techway. Additionally, Mr. Rickertsen is a Director of MicroStrategy (NASDAQ - "MSTR"), Convera (NASDAQ - "CNVR"), and United Agri-Products (NASDAQ - "UAPC"). He sailed on the fall 1981 Semester At Sea voyage.
