Gudrun Haider, Resident Director

Voyages: Fall 2012

Having grown up in Bregenz, Austria, Gudrun has always loved to travel. After participating in a high school exchange year in Cincinnati, OH, Gudrun decided to come to the United States for college. Gudrun received her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the State University of New York at New Paltz and her Master’s in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of Connecticut. Gudrun has worked as a Resident Director at Miami University of Ohio and the University of North Florida and is currently serving in that role at the University of Connecticut. Gudrun’s current position includes overseeing, teaching and programming for the Global House Learning Community, a home for domestic and international students interested in learning more about global awareness, and supporting the EuroTech Learning Community, which houses students double-majoring in German and Engineering. Gudrun, who has a passion for advising student organizations, helped the Residence Hall Association at UConn host its first regional student leadership conference in 2011 and was awarded the NEACURH Outstanding Advisor Pin. In her free time Gudrun can usually be found at an Arthur Murray Dance Studio practicing her ballroom dancing moves. Gudrun is thrilled to embark on the adventure of her first SAS voyage and to expand her knowledge of different cultures and countries.
