What is Global Studies?

Global Studies is an upper-level geography course, which is the intellectual focus for Semester at Sea. A multi-disciplinary overview of the areas and issues encountered during the voyage, Global Studies highlights the complexity, dynamics, and interdependence of world systems. It reinforces the content of the other subjects you study and also enhances your field experience. The course coordinator draws on all the faculty on board, orchestrating their contributions with the interport lecturers who join the voyage en route and bring specific expertise to a country or region.

Is Global Studies 101 mandatory for every student?
