How can I communicate with family, friends, and colleagues onboard the ship?
Telephone, e-mail, and fax services are available on the ship. Cabins are equipped with phones that enable ship-to-shore calling 24 hours per day. To place a call from the ship, a phone card, available for purchase on board, is required. The current rate is approximately $1.50 per minute. To place a call to the ship, callers dial a toll-free number: 877.266.0986. The caller will be asked to provide a credit card that will be charged approximately $3.95 per minute. A shipboard operator will answer the call and connect the caller directly to the phone in the passenger's cabin.
Internet service on the ship is available in the Internet Café and from your own laptop if it is equipped with wireless technology. Passengers can use the Internet service to access web-based e-mail accounts such as yahoo.com, hotmail.com, and aol.com.
The number to send a fax to the ship is 954.538.6163. There is a $5.00/per page charge to send and receive a fax on board. Fax accessibility will vary depending on the location of the ship. There is only one fax line available so it is recommended that faxes be restricted to important messages only.
Is smoking permitted onboard?
The MV Explorer is a predominately non-smoking environment. Smoking will be restricted to designated areas only. Smoking in non-designated public areas is not permitted on the vessel.
Is there a baggage limit?
You should avoid bringing luggage in excess of the maximum limit (two checked bags and one carry-on) permitted by airlines. Under no circumstances may dangerous articles, such as firearms, explosives, combustible substances, etc. be contained in any baggage or brought by any person on board the ship. The ship's owners, employees, and agents do not accept responsibility for loss, damage, or theft of passengers' baggage or personal items. The company makes every effort to assist its guests to safeguard their belongings, but in the absence of negligence on its part, guests' belongings are always carried at "owner's risk." In the event of loss or damage to baggage or personal items, immediate notification should be made in writing to the Purser's Office to ensure that the passenger's rights of claim against his/her insurers are not prejudiced.
Is there laundry service available?
Yes. Valet laundry service is available at a cost of $5 per bag (washed only) or $8 per bag (washed and pressed). No dry cleaning services are available.
What are accommodations like on the ship?
The environment aboard the MV Explorer is casual and comfortable. Accommodations are informal with limited cabin service.
What types of outlets are available in the cabins?
There are five 110-volt outlets in each cabin and a hair dryer in provided.
What's the atmosphere like on the ship?
The atmosphere on the ship is casual. Some events require semi-formal attire but there are no formal or black-tie events.
When are meals served?
Meal hours are as follows: Breakfast: 0700-0900, Lunch: 1200-1400, Dinner: 1800-2000. In addition to the three regular meals, afternoon tea and a late night snack will be offered daily. All meals are served buffet style. A variety of both western and international dishes are served. Special dietary requests, including vegetarian dietary needs, cannot be honored.
Where will my luggage be stored?
There will not be a luggage storage area prior to embarkation time. All luggage will be loaded onto the MV Explorer during check-in. Once luggage is onboard, it must remain in your cabin. Storage space is limited. Collapsible, soft-sided luggage is recommended.
Will there be a doctor on board?
A medical clinic is available on the ship. The medical staff consists of a physician and two physician's assistants and/ or nurses. Medical services will be available for all passengers and will be billed on a per visit basis.
