How are cabins different?
There are a number of different cabin categories:
- Economy
- Two lower berths. May be slightly smaller than standard cabins or experience increased vibration and/or engine noise.
- Super Economy
- Inside double cabins (no window) in the forward area of the ship that are smaller in square footage and have basic furnishings. Direct-connect wired internet access available for computers with an Ethernet connection.
- Quad
- Capacity for four. One window. One bathroom.
- Triple
- Capacity for three. No window. One bathroom
- Inside Double
- Two lower berths, or beds. No porthole/window.
- Outside Double
- Two lower berths, or beds. Window.
- Junior Suite
- Larger square footage than standard outside double. Two lower berths. Picture window.
- Inside Single
- Single occupancy. No porthole/window. Available summer voyages only.
- Outside Single
- Single occupancy. No porthole/window. Available summer voyages only.
Each cabin has its own bathroom with toilet, sink, and shower. All cabins are equipped with a small refrigerator, a television set that is linked to the ship's closed circuit system, and several 110 power outlets. There are no desks in cabins, though there are study space is available throughout the ship. While there is ample closet and drawer space, there is limited storage space. Students are encouraged to pack lightly and to use soft sided luggage that can easily be stored under the bed. Clearance below each bed is approximately 9.5 inches.
How do I decide what cabin category to choose?
It is really up to you. Keep in mind that ship cabins tend to be small. Students spend most of their time outside their cabin. Some students prefer having a window/porthole and are willing to pay the extra cost.
How many students are on board?
As many as 720 undergraduates sail each fall, spring, and summer voyage.
Is there Internet access on the ship?
Internet service on the ship is available from an onboard computer lab. The lab is equipped with 20 computers and is available 24/7. Wi-fi access is available throughout the ship, as well, for those who bring their wireless-equipped laptops. You receive 125 minutes free Internet access as part of your paid program fees; after that, there is a per-minute cost for onboard Internet access starting at about 40 cents per minute.
