Transferring SAS Credits
Each Semester at Sea voyage includes students representing 250-300 universities. Since 1963, students from over 1,700 colleges and universities all over the world have participated on Semester at Sea.
Semester at Sea students are enrolled as visiting students of the University of Virginia (U.Va.), the nation's #2 public university according to U.S. News & World Report. Grades are recorded at U.Va. and students receive official U.Va. transcripts. Courses on Semester at Sea appear as regular U.Va. courses, are fully accredited, and meet the generally accepted standards for transfer.
Take Charge and Transfer Credit

Meet with your school's study abroad advisor to complete any necessary application steps your school may require.

Review the list of courses offered on the voyage you’re interested in. Course syllabi are typically available 4-5 months in advance of a voyage.

Consult your registrar or academic advisor to prioritize the course options most beneficial to your program of study.

Register for Semester at Sea courses on-line prior to embarkation. An add/drop period is available during the first few days of the voyage.

Set sail. Within two weeks of the end of the voyage, an official transcript with letter grades is sent directly from the University of Virginia to the registrar’s office on your home campus.
