SAS Increases Financial Aid to $2.6 Million

Semester at Sea and the non-profit Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) have increased the amount of ISE financial aid available to participants from $2.2 to $2.6 million, effective FY 2009, and improved award modeling. Specific awards are highlighted on the new ISE scholarships page. {More»}

The SAS/ISE award process now mirrors the financial aid process most undergraduates see at their home institutions, making it easier for students to understand.

Students are now able to receive more than one financial aid award. This means a student could receive a need grant, a merit grant, and a work-study position if fully qualified for each. It is now possible for students to receive more than $10,000.

ISE financial aid was increased as part of an ongoing strategy to increase aid dollars at a higher rate than increases to program fees. Learn more about SAS financial aid.

ISE aid is distributed to students with the greatest financial need. More than 40% of SAS participants apply for and receive aid from ISE. A student's academic accomplishment (GPA) is factored into the need-based aid formula.
