Special Considerations
Traveling on a ship can pose many challenges for those individuals with physical impairments, including moving and uneven surfaces and steep gangway steps or special dietary needs. ISE remains committed to providing travel, work and study opportunities for everyone. We will evaluate each situation individually and make every possible effort to accommodate the special needs of each participant.
Campus Store
The Campus Store offers a selection of SAS logo clothing, school and travel supplies, daily necessities, voyage mementos, and gift items. Purchases are made using your shipboard account and all sales are tax free.
Clinic
The Medical Team is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating total patient care for the students, faculty, staff and assisting with the officers and crew aboard the MV Explorer. The Physician is assisted by a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner and one Registered Nurse, as well as, a Crew Doctor and a Crew Nurse. The Clinic is located near the Gangway on deck 2.
Counseling Office
Counselors are responsible for total mental health care for participants aboard the MV Explorer. Counselors work in cooperation with the Administrative, Medical, and Living-Learning teams. The counseling office is located on deck 2.
Dining Halls
The dining halls are located on decks 5 and 6. The Aquamarine Dining Hall, on Deck 5, is the ship's formal dining room. It seats 470. The dining hall on deck 6, referred to as the Garden Lounge, seats 210 inside and 110 outside.
Gym
A fitness room with treadmills, elliptical machines, and stairmasters is located on Deck 7. Weight machines and free weights are available on deck 7 aft.
Miller Court
Miller Court is a netted, multi-use court on deck 7 donated by alumni Todd Miller (S84) and Jocelyn Miller.
Pool Deck
The pool area is 7,500 sq. ft. (700 m2) and includes one outside pool and a snack bar (open late), which serves smoothies, pizza and burgers.
Student Life Office
The student life office on deck 6 serves as the administrative office for the entire student life staff.
Textbook Store
The textbook store serves students who add or drop a course and need to purchase or exchange a textbook.
Wellness Center
The wellness center, located on deck 7, offers massages, manicures, pedicures, haircuts and other spa treatments to participants while at sea.
