Health & Safety

The Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) and Semester at Sea program have close to 50 years of experience in global education travel. Since 1963, more than 55,000 students have participated in our unique study abroad program and we have launched more than 100 international voyages. As part of our field program, we work with established and reputable travel and tour agents in more than 50 countries. We organize close to 300 field trips each voyage with a total student participation of more than 5,000. Our traveling campus, the MV Explorer, consistently receives high scores on U.S. Public Health and Coast Guard vessel inspections.

We invite you to learn more about our number one priority: the health, safety, and security of all of our program participants, employees, and crew:

We recommend that you read Responsible Study Abroad: Good Practices for Health & Safety (PDF), published by The Interassociational Advisory Committee on Safety and Responsibility in Study Abroad before you or someone you know embarks on a study-abroad experience.
