Parent Trips

"Going on the parent trip, being able to be on the ship, as well as in a cool place in the world was extremely worthwhile. Being able to be a part of our daughter’s experience in that way was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

—John Egbert, Semester at Sea Parent, Summer 2007

Semester at Sea provides a unique opportunity for parents to join their students during one of the ports of call during their voyage.

Previous parent trips have traveled to Thailand and Viet Nam, Peru, and Africa, and upcoming trips will explore Italy & Turkey. You will meet and travel with other parents and a tour guide prior to the ship's arrival.

Soon after the MV Explorer docks you will be able to see your child and hear about all the exciting things they have been experiencing. You can tour the ship, meet their friends and professors, and experience a bit of shipboard life. Then, participants will rejoin the other parents and their students for a field trip where they will come to experience the unique opportunities a shipboard educational voyage makes possible.
