Ways to Give

We invite you to join the long and distinguished list of alumni, parents and friends whose financial support sustains Semester at Sea's reputation as the premier study abroad program in the world.

Making a gift to Semester at Sea is as simple as clicking a button and completing the online form, or phoning our staff for information and professional assistance. Please take a moment to explore the giving options listed below.

Direct Gifts

  • Give Online
  • Mail check made payable to Semester at Sea:
The Semester at Sea Annual Fund

    Charlottesville, VA 22904-4885

Matching Gifts

Many companies will match their employees' gifts to Semester at Sea. The advantages are substantial:

  • You may be able to double or triple your gift if you or your spouse works for a company that matches gifts to non profit organizations.
  • Retired employees often qualify for matching gifts programs.
  • You will receive credit for the total sum of the gift.

To find out if your employer offers a matching gifts program, contact your company's human resources office.

Stocks, Bonds, and Other Securities

Giving shares of appreciated stock, bonds, mutual funds, and other securities can be an excellent way to make a gift to Semester at Sea.

When you donate securities in lieu of cash, you do not pay any capital gains tax on the appreciation in the securities, while you receive a deduction for their full market value on the date of your gift.

Gifts in Kind

Whether it is an item for the SAS Annual Fund Auction that takes place each voyage, supplies for the shipboard community or services you can provide to the program, gifts in kind from our alumni are needed and greatly appreciated. Please contact Development and Alumni Affairs if you would like to make an in-kind donation.
