Easter Sunday in South Africa
On Easter Sunday in South Africa, Mike Ellerbrock and a small group of Semester at Sea travelers elected to attend mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Cape Town. Ellerbrock, an economics professor on the Spring 2010 voyage, is also a Catholic deacon back home in Virginia. When he asked to pay his respects to the local archbishop prior to the service, he was invited to concelebrate the Easter Sunday Mass. For Ellerbrock and his fellow voyagers this was an unforgettable opportunity to participate in a religious ceremony with an overflowing congregation of South African families.
