SAS Participants Share Their Impressions of Istanbul and Turkish Culture

Istanbul, and Turkey itself, marked an important transition from European to Arabic, from west to east, from Judeo-Christian to Muslim cultures. At the end of our four days, most students were delighted by Istanbul and their encounters with the people and the culture.

SAS Teachers at Sea Program Visits Kent Koleji

The students belonging to the SAS Teachers at Sea program were pleased to accompany Professor Ken Cushner, professor of education at Kent State University on his Faculty Directed Practicum to Kent Koleji, a multi-cultural elementary school in Istanbul, Turkey that is associated with Kent State.

Give Back the Elgin Marbles? A Study of "Cultural Patrimony" in Greece

Should the British Museum return the Elgin Marbles to Greece? For that matter, should all museums return cultural artifacts to their countries of origin? The students who visited the New Acropolis Museum in Athens, either on a Faculty Directed Practicum with Professor Larry Silver or independently, had different positions on the argument, but they all agreed that visiting the museum was an extraordinary experience.
