Summer 2010 SAS Voyage Blog

This audio slideshow provides a fascinating look at the history and culture of Dubrovnik, Croatia. SAS students explored the city walls, took part in a service project, and experienced the annual summer festival.

SAS participants were excited to discover they could travel to at least two other countries, Montenegro and Bosnia, for less than $40 and a two-hour bus ride from Dubrovnik, Croatia. Neither country requires visas from U.S. and EU nationals. Participants who had not signed up ahead of time for an organized trip to these countries were permitted by SAS to spend the day or even a night in these countries, once they had registered plans with the ship. Consequently, many were able to catch a glimpse of how two countries emerged from the bitter conflicts that occurred with the break-up of Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

This audio slideshow provides a thorough look at the cultural sites and learning opportunities experienced by the voyage community during its exploration of Italy. SAS professors provide deep insight into the culture, art, and history of Rome, Vatican City, Naples, Herculaneum, and beyond.
