SAS Connects Participant with Mother's Olympic Past

Raecine (Rae) Williams, of the University of Miami, signed up for a Barcelona tour led by Professor Ian Campbell called "Sporting Barcelona." At the last minute, the tour added an additional venue: the Olympic Stadium. Suddenly, she realized that she would be in the exact spot where her mother, Cathy Rattray, had represented Jamaica in the 400 meters relay in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

Participants React to the Culture and Architecture of Barcelona

At midnight, Las Ramblas, the main thoroughfare in Barcelona is still bustling with crowds of people, mimes, and acrobats.  After all, most people only just finished dinner, which usually runs from 9 - 11 pm. People are friendly and relaxed. This is a social culture, and one which seems welcoming and warm.
