Cu Chi Tunnels Living on Four Legs

Outside of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, lie the Cu Chi tunnels. These tunnels are a part of a larger network of tunnels that played a crucial role in Viet Cong’s resistance against American forces in the Vietnam War. The tunnels were used not only as a hideout but also as a supply network, a means of communication, as well as living quarters complete with kitchens and discrete chimneys. They were also used as a hospital, a movie theater and even a wedding hall. Join Alaine Johnson, a gap year student, as she takes us through her experience visiting the Cu Chi tunnels during a Semester at Sea field lab for the International Short Story course.
