Three Times the Adventure

It’s one thing to embark on a voyage with friends, but it is another to travel through 14 countries alongside two people that look exactly like you. The Postler triplets are a trio of fame aboard the MV Explorer.

Amber, Carlie, and Sierra have different majors but share similarities in their appearance, mannerisms, and values. To many voyagers, they themselves have been a new discovery. Having been known to skip huge chunks of conversations without noticing, the girls have a bond that cannot be ignored. As they walk the deck’s of the MV Explorer, they are constantly leaving their peers doing a triple-take.  “We’ve always been incredibly close. Even in our family, we are weird,” said Carlie.

Their Semester at Sea journey began when Amber called her two sisters to tell them about her plan to apply to the program. After hanging up, Carlie and Sierra called back immediately and asked, “Can we do it too?” She agreed. And from there, the adventure began. “Why would you not want to share (an experience like this) with the people in your life who are the most important?” added Amber.

Their adventures and bond have not been limited to the MV Explorer. In port, the three have only been separated for short amounts of time during academic field labs.  Embarking in lots of personal firsts as a unit, they have ridden trains, metros and stayed in hostiles, all things not possible in their small hometown of Kings Beach, California.

As they are exposed to new cultures and people, both on and off the ship, they continue to find strength in numbers and always have a piece of home with them along the way. “It’s really nice to be able to go to the room, sit on my bed, and cry (if I need to). I know one of them will be there to hold me,” said Sierra.

Of the places they’ve traveled so far, Ireland ranks top on their list. With Irish heritage in their blood, their experience in this country has made them eager to get their parents interested in traveling as well. “We want to go home and be able to say, ‘let’s go as a family’,” Sierra added. With so many travel opportunities available, there’s no reason the Postler adventures should end with the Postler triplets.

I miss my favorite girls! Although I have really only gotten to know Carlie and Sierra tje most through work and school, these three are all very sweet girls who are always there when you need them. I am glad I had the chance to meet them! Love & miss them 🙂 can’t wait ’til they come home so we can visit them!
