Discovering Eastern Religious Practices at Kamakura

And whoso will, from Pride released
Contemning neither creed nor priest,
May feel the Soul of all the East
About him at Kamakura.
-Rudyard Kipling, Buddha at Kamakura (1892)

Students on the Spring 2015 voyage traveled to the historic city of Kamakura, Japan, where they visited several Shinto and Buddhist shrines and got the opportunity to observe and participate in traditional Japanese religious rituals.  World Religions student Jazmine Garcia from Santiago Canyon College shares her reflections the day at Kamakura and how it opened her eyes to Japanese culture.
