State of the Institute Q&A session
Last week, ISE President and CEO Dr. Scott Marshall provided an update to alumni, friends, and prospective voyagers about the status of Semester at Sea, the importance of our mission, difficult decisions recently made by leadership, and our collective optimism about the future.
On Wednesday, July 22, Scott and ISE Vice President of Advancement Audra Brickner hosted a Facebook Live question and answer session. Alumni were encouraged to submit questions in advance or via chat on Facebook. Additional questions and answers can be found on Semester at Sea’s Facebook page.

A welcome session, displaying a fair amount of optimism about the future, while adding a touch of realism that the Fall 2021 voyage may not materialize. Even if it does, the experience will be quite different from the past, with limits on socializing on board as well as on land experiences, such as independent travel and home-stays. It will be important to alert prospective voyagers to such changes in order to avoid disappointment.
