This course will de-mystify the techniques of great expository writing, providing participants with specific tools to help them write more persuasive papers and essays. Students will analyze the structure of effective expository writing; learn how to develop, organize, and support academic arguments using appropriate evidence; improve flow, transition, and style in order to bring good writing to the next level; and work to synthesize diverse reading materials to better develop and organize their own opinions. Classes will contain a workshop component; class participation is mandatory.
