The course design is to help students become more aware of the processes and dynamics of interpersonal communication in a variety of cultural/global contexts. A mentor of mine at the University of Washington, Dr. John Stewart, taught me that “conversations are the most significant events of our lives,” and he helped to instill in me the value of becoming a more “responsible” interpersonal communicator. This goal means that we must not only strive to be responsible in our communication with others, but we must also learn how to open up channels to allow for “response-able” communication.
