Alison Hicks

Alison Hicks is a PhD Candidate in the School of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University, Australia and the Romance Language Librarian at the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA. After graduating from the University of St Andrews, Scotland with an MA in French and Spanish, Alison worked in Buenos Aires, Argentina before completing her MSIS from the University of Texas, Austin. Fluent in French and Spanish, Alison has lived and worked on three continents, including the public school system in Pamplona, Spain, at the Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Argentina, at LANIC, University of Texas, Austin and the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington DC.

Currently, Alison is midway through her PhD research into information literacy practices within intercultural transitions, interviewing and working with students who are presently engaged in study abroad programs. In her position at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and the University of Denver, Alison has taught a number of undergraduate and graduate classes, but this will be her first experience of Semester at Sea. She is thrilled to be working with the Global Studies program on board the World Odyssey!
