Resident Director

Amber Galusha-Patel

Amber is a dedicated educator who was born and raised in the Chicago-land area. She left her roots in the Midwest to attend Florida International University where she earned a B.S. in Secondary Education and a M.S. in Higher Education Administration. Amber has worked professionally in residential life at Georgia Tech, University of Miami and Northwestern University. She had the privilege to sail as a Residence Director during the fall 2015 Semester at Sea voyage. Amber reflects on the meaningful, lifelong relationships created with students, faculty, staff and crew-members as one of her most life changing and rewarding experiences. As a first generation American, Amber’s personal experience navigating higher education as a biracial, low-income, first generation college student influenced her career.  She is passionate about mentoring and supporting international students and underrepresented students throughout their academic endeavors. Amber is thrilled to join the spring 2020 shipboard community as a Residence Director and is eager to foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative community. In her spare time, Amber enjoys traveling with friends and family, staying active, and playing fetch with her dog, Jade!
