Anu Narasimhan

 

Anuradha Narasimhan is a Strategy and Marketing professional with 24 years of experience in creating and nurturing brands and businesses in diverse categories like Food, Beauty and Lifestyle, Telecom.

Her last corporate role was as EVP – Sales & Marketing for a PE-funded start up Global Consumer Products where she was instrumental in creating both the marketing mix and sales and distribution system for a chocolate brand-launch in a short period of a year.

Anu has been the CMO of Britannia Industries – Britannia is India’s oldest food company with a portfolio of products in bakery and dairy segments, and with revenues in excess of $1 Bn. She led innovation and premiumization of the entire portfolio of brands, and helped build the Health credentials for the company. She played a vital role in building the lifestyle health brand Nutrichoice and setting up the Britannia Nutrition Foundation.

Anu spent 4 years with Hindustan Unilever as GM – Marketing for their masstige beauty brand Lakme. She was effective in taking Lakme Fashion Week beyond the ‘ramp’ and through it setting Lakme as a trend-setting fashion brand in the minds of consumers.  She spent a year launching the telecom brand Hutch in India – the brand launch won accolades with consumers and industry alike. She started her career with Titan Industries which is considered a young jewel in the crown of the Tata group operating in the lifestyle segment of watches and jewellery. She spent 10 years at Titan launching and building brands as well as setting up and managing retail operations.

Brands she has managed have straddled consumer segments ranging from nutrition at the bottom of the pyramid to fashion for the top 1% Indians. She counts as her notable contributions mentoring women leaders and brand custodians.

Anu is now pursuing a Doctoral programme from Singapore Management University with the intention to unlearn and relearn in a dynamically-changing world. She serves on the Board of African Improved Foods Rwanda which is a joint venture between the Government of Rwanda and a consortium of Royal DSM, Dutch development bank (FMO), DFID Impact Acceleration Facility managed by CDC Group PLC and the investment arm of the World Bank (IFC).

She is an engineer from IIT Bombay and did her Post Graduation in Business from IIM Bangalore. She is happiest meeting people, solving problems, and volunteering for causes.
