April Hurley

April Hurley will join Semester at Sea from Monte Vista, Colorado.  She received her BSN in nursing from the University of Utah.  She has over 30 years experience as an RN in varied capacities: emergency room, public health, school nurse, clinic nurse and is currently employed by San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Surgery.  She is a seasonal hiking guide (except for Summer 2013) employed by The World Outdoors, and conducts hiking and multi-sport trips in Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Colorado and New Mexico.  In addition to her degree in nursing, she is a certified Wilderness First Responder and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.  She enjoys ALL things outdoors, especially in the company of her husband, Grant Hurley, who is the physician for this sailing. She truly is looking forward to joining the Semester at Sea community and creating many memorable experiences.  Life is an adventure and there is beauty in every step!
