Becca is delighted to return to Semester at Sea as an Assistant Field Director for the Fall 2015 voyage. As a native of Philadelphia, her love for travel and culture was fostered by her experiences as a high school exchange student in the suburbs of London.
Becca holds a B.S. in Psychology and double minors in Sociology and Social Justice from Springfield College, where she served as Student Body President during her senior year. During her time at school, she was able to engage with faculty and staff to co-design and implement a one-credit class: The Humanics Seminar. This class focused on providing first-year students with the opportunity to engage in service-learning, develop inter- and intra-personal skills, and foster relationships between students and residents of the city of Springfield. During the summer of her junior year, she studied abroad with Semester at Sea, traveling to countries throughout North Africa and the Mediterranean.
Becca is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in International Education at SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont, where she has taken classes that focus on both theory and practice. During her studies at SIT, Becca participated in a field course to Costa Rica where she studied intercultural communication and obtained her TESOL Certification. When Becca is not busy with group projects and writing papers, she works as a Challenge Course Facilitator at East Campus (Springfield, MA). In her spare time, she loves to read, write, indulge in chocolate chip cookies, connect with nature, and spend time with her grandmother. Becca is looking forward to working in the Field Office during this incredible Atlantic Exploration.
