Bernadette is a Fort Collins native and graduate of Colorado State University, earning a BS in Human Development and Family Studies. She worked for a few years at CSU as a counselor in the Academic Advancement Center/TRIO, which supports academic success for first generation and low income college students. This was followed by a stint as a financial aid counselor at a private university in San Diego, California. There, she met the love of her life, Oscar Felix. Bernadette persuaded Oscar to move to Fort Collins.
Upon returning to FoCo, Bernadette worked as a Probation Officer for the 8th Judicial District Probation Department. During her 28 years as a PO, she had variety of caseloads including adults, juveniles, presentence reports, victim services, DUI court, and restorative justice. Since retiring from the Probation Department 2 1/2 years ago, Bernadette continues to volunteer with the City of Fort Collins Restorative Justice Services and serves as a founding board member of Larimer Court Support, a 501 (c)(3) that assists participants in the local problem solving courts.
Bernadette has a great love of travel, which was inspired by her husband, Oscar. She is looking forward to all of the countries during her first SAS voyage!!!
