Betsy Chunko is a specialist in the pre- and early-modern art and architecture of Northern Europe. She has completed research and traveled widely throughout Europe and lectures on diverse topics, including the history of Russian architecture, Gothic Revivalism, and Anglo-Scandinavian cultural crossings in the Viking era. She served as a research fellow at the Institute for Cultural Studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany, and taught at Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Bard College before joining the faculty at West Point. Ms. Chunko has published articles on medieval art and architecture and is currently working on a monograph on English woodcarving. Her research has been supported by national and international funding bodies, including the Medieval Academy of America, the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
