Brandon Johnson grew up in Riverside, California before relocating to Santa Barbara, California to study mathematics and computer science at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Soon after completing his undergraduate studies, Brandon worked full-time as an Assistant Resident Director in UCSB’s Residential & Community Living department. After serving there as an ARD for two years, he moved on to University of Southern California (USC) to complete his masters in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs. While at USC, Brandon gained experience as a Graduate Residential College Coordinator in the International Residential College. Since then, Brandon has worked at the University of San Francisco as a Residence Director in the Student Housing and Residential Education department. The community he oversees houses multiple Living Learning Communities, including the Esther-Madríz Diversity Scholars community, the Gender Inclusive community, the Black Living Learning Community, and the Erasmus community. The latter of which pairs classwork with an international immersion trip to explore conflict and reconciliation domestically and abroad. As a Semester At Sea alum, Brandon is both grateful and excited to return to the program and serve the shipboard community. He looks forward to meeting new people from all walks of life and embarking on a truly transformation experience with voyagers seeking to engage with the global community!
