Fall 2019: Canals and The Atlantic

Fall 2019

Canals and The Atlantic
Associate Professor

Brennan Davis

California Polytechnic State University

Dr. Brennan Davis is an associate professor of marketing at the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly in the beautiful coastal city of San Luis Obispo. He has ten years of experience teaching marketing. He especially loves to introduce to students the exciting, powerful and critical role of marketing, the only customer-facing function of an organization and vital to its success. Many students enter his classes wondering about the integrity of marketing in society. However, students leave his class with a deeper understanding of the philosophy of marketing, come to understand its noble role in the world, and leave with the maturity of graduating from a consumer to marketer orientation by the end of the course.

Dr. Davis spent a decade working in industry before becoming a professor. He was onsite at the United States headquarters of several global automakers: Nissan, Toyota, and Honda, helping them solve some of their most complex marketing problems. He likes to bring stories from this experience into the classroom.

He is married to a beautiful woman named Anna Marie Davis, and they have four sons: Noam (age 20), Canyon (10), Levi (9) and Tobin (6). At home, they often have more babysitting volunteers than they need because their boys have a lot of love to share. Hopefully, students will get a chance to know them well on the voyage. He feels very fortunate to serve students in his role as a professor with Semester at Sea and looks forward to getting to know everyone.
