Brittany Gaalema

Brittany was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Indiana University for her undergraduate degree in Special Education and Elementary Education (Teaching All Learners). After student-teaching abroad, Brittany returned to Indiana University to receive her M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs. While Brittany has had experiences at multiple institutions, she currently comes to the Semester at Sea Ship from the University of North Florida where she has worked in residence life for the last three years. After having three years of resident director experience at different institutions, Brittany has most recently worked for the last year with Living-Learning Programs and educational initiatives. Brittany’s passion areas include social justice, civic engagement, and leadership development. Being on the staff team of Semester at Sea has been a long-time goal for Brittany. She looks forward to utilizing her skill sets and areas of interest in the development of an engaged community of learners aboard the ship. Having a penchant for traveling, Brittany is excited for the opportunity to explore the different countries and to learn more about cultures from around the world.
