Nicol “Colie” Talbert is a Physician Assistant hailing from the small town of Gunnison, Colorado. After graduating from the University of California at Santa Cruz with degrees in environmental studies and anthropology she moved to Bozeman, Montana, putting her degrees to use as a whitewater rafting guide, skiing and traveling for a few years. However, her home state of Colorado was calling, as well as her desire to work in medicine, and she moved back to attend the University of Colorado Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program. Since graduating she has been practicing family medicine, first on the Fond du Lac Reservation in Duluth, Minnesota and now in Gunnison. Her work is full-spectrum, rural family medicine, “from womb to tomb” as we like to say, as well as experience in urgent care and wilderness medicine. She has also worked for the local health department for the past 12 years providing services for low income and uninsured individuals. Colie and her husband John are excited to share their love of travel with their two boys, Roy and Heath (ages 9 & 6), and all four are really looking forward to exploring new countries and cultures with the whole Semester at Sea community.
