Courtney Henderson teaches English composition courses at the University of Miami, where she also started and leads Canes Conversations, a weekly group for international students to practice their English reading comprehension and conversation skills. She earned her B.A. in Journalism and Literature from Florida A and M University, an M.A. in Literature from the University of Toledo and an M.S. in Linguistics, Language Documentation and Conservation from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In the field of linguistics she created and distributed a Hawaiian/English book and game to help with Hawaiian language revitalization efforts of Keiki O Ka ‘Aina, a Hawaiian language immersion school on the island of Oahu. In the field of literature most of her work focuses on Toni Morrison and she presented in Stockholm, Sweden at the 20 year anniversary of Toni Morrison winning the Nobel Prize in Literature.
