Fall 2016: The Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Beyond

Fall 2016

The Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Beyond
Lifelong Learner Coordinator

Craig Zimmerman

I have been fortunate to have sailed with Semester at Sea several times including Spring 2007 and 2010, Summer 2013 and the 2011-2012 Amazon River Enrichment Voyage where I served as a volunteer staff member for the unique high school study abroad program.  In addition, I have volunteered with SAS on numerous occasions including parent receptions, assisting in student ship-boarding transport, and pitching in whenever extra help has been needed. I am always happy to give back to SAS for all they have given me and my family.

My interactions with the Lifelong Learners on past voyages has always been a highlight for me. I am very excited to serve as the Coordinator of the Lifelong Learner Program for the Fall 2016 voyage.  I was honored with the City of Fort Collins / Colorado State University Civic Engagement Award primarily for my leadership and success in bringing college students together with elder city residents. I was able to help them navigate a positive and meaningful connection with one another. I hope to bring this same set of skills to our voyage.  I am thrilled to be on the staff for the first SAS voyage with Colorado State University as the academic partner (GO RAMS). In my free time, I volunteer weekly at Hospice and at our local homeless shelter. You will also find me rock climbing, a passion for over 40 years, and spending time with my family.
