Dallawrence Dean is originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, and has a passion for working with students. He has over ten years of higher education experience working in residence life, academic support, career services, and study abroad. Dallawrence recently completed his dissertation, entitled Comfortable Being Uncomfortable: The Study Abroad Experiences of Black and Latino/a Students, earning his doctorate of philosophy in Higher Education Leadership from The University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include international education, underrepresented students, and diversity, equity, and access issues in higher education. Additionally, he holds a master’s degree from Michigan State University and bachelor’s degrees from Colorado State University.
Dallawrence is looking forward to working with the amazing Semester at Sea faculty and staff, observing how the students will grow from their international experience, and of course, the many destinations. Dallawrence is the eldest of three children, enjoys working out, sports, and tinkering with his computer. He is also married and recently celebrated his one-year anniversary.
