After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from North Central College in Naperville, IL in 2007, Dani Izac spent several months volunteering in East Africa. In 2011, Dani completed a Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration at Illinois State University. While working as a graduate assistant in the Dean of Students Office at ISU, Dani coordinated leadership programs, social justice-focused retreats, and fall orientation. Dani returned to her alma mater in 2011 to serve as an Area Hall Director for first-year, upperclassman, transfer, and international residents. She also coordinates campus-wide weekend programs and volunteers regularly with the campus Ministry & Service and Alumni offices.
Dani first learned about Semester at Sea through a friend who sailed with the Fall 2006 voyage. The concept of eliminating classroom walls to embrace the globe in a literal sense as a space for learning captivated Dani. Having experienced the impact of international travel and service previously, she identified Semester at Sea as an opportunity to which she would like to contribute in the future. Dani is thrilled to serve as a Resident Director for the Fall 2014 Voyage and support students and colleagues as this educational community sets out on an adventure of learning, reflecting, and exploring through the Atlantic!
