A proud Anteater since 2005, Darlene currently serves as the Assistant Director for the Cross-Cultural Center at the University of California, Irvine. In her role, she focuses on community and multicultural programs that provide students the opportunity to engage in community building, experiential learning, and leadership development. She has extensive experience in coordinating community-based initiatives, developing community partnerships, and advising of service, social justice, and diversity affiliated campus organizations. She has served as the staff advisor for the UC Irvine Alternative Break program, and has traveled with the group to for the weeklong service-learning project. Darlene received her BA in Psychology from the University of California, Davis, and in 2004 received her MA in Counseling, Student Affairs, from the University of San Diego. This is her first semester long voyage with Semester at Sea, having first served as a resident director during the May 2012 short term voyage. She is thrilled to interact and travel with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
