David Mallin

David Mallin is a cinematographer, filmmaker, and the Director of Old Dominion University’s Film Program.  He has a MFA in Cinematography from AFI in Los Angeles and a BA from American University in Washington DC.  He is a yearly staff member at The American Pavilion at the Cannes film festival.  His work has screened on San Francisco’s KRON, CCTV China, HBO’s Video-On-Demand and multiple festivals.  He taught at Virginia Tech and the International Academy of Film & TV in the Philippines before joining ODU.  David focuses his work with students on the production of collaborative group and faculty-led projects run like real-world movie sets.  This is his second voyage with Semester at Sea; the first was Fall 2003.
