Dave’s goals and passions are to provide students with the best support and living environment to ensure their growth and success. While on the ship, he hopes to create an accepting and welcoming environment where members can mutually learn from each other. As a Resident Director, he has worked at Pace University in his hometown of New York City, where he received his undergraduate degree in Communications and a Master’s in Education with a focus in teaching English. After, he began a new adventure on the West coast working at the University of California, Santa Barbara as both a Resident Director, student organization advisor, and most recently, the Interim Director of LGBTQ services.
In his personal life, he embraces new adventures and experiences to expand his horizons. He’s had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, China, Guam and Israel as a participant of the Birthright Israel Program. Each of these journeys has taught him the importance of not only embracing, accepting and celebrating cultures, traditions and peoples, but also the value of living as a global citizen and walking humbly with your privilege; this is what he hopes to share with students and colleagues on this voyage. In his current position, he sees the power and possibilities of individuals working collaboratively and creatively despite their vast differences, and this is what motivates and inspires him to continue learning, growing and encouraging others to do the same and be their best selves.
In his spare time, Dave loves taking photos (expect lots during the voyage!), discovering new music, geeking out about sci-fi/supernatural TV shows, comics and movies, any outdoor adventures, volleyball and spending time with friends.
