Dean Menke

Dean Menke joins the Semester at Sea team with over 25 years of experience.  He has enjoyed successful and fulfilling careers as an environmental engineer, international consultant, and baker before becoming a middle/high school math and science teacher.  Most recently, he was a visiting scholar at the Woodstock School in Mussoorie, India. For the 2017-2018 school year, he taught secondary science at Saint Johnsbury Academy Jeju, an international school in S. Korea.  Dean brings a joy and passion for learning and travel, and is excited to be part of the Spring 2019 voyage. He is looking forward to working with families to make the home schooling experience the best it can be.

Dean will be traveling this spring with his family, wife Patti Delaney and son Henry.  While Vermont is home, international travel is a shared interest of theirs. Dean and his wife were faculty members on the Fall 2002 S@S voyage, and they have lived overseas in East Timor, Tonga, and S. Korea.  Eight-year old Henry has Antarctica on his bucket list to complete his goal of visiting all seven continents before he is 10. They are all looking forward to being active members of the shipboard community.
