Dennis Jackson will be the Assistant Dean of Students for the Fall 2019 voyage. He fell in love with the sea and this program when he sailed on the Fall 2015 voyage as a Resident Director. Dennis feels this voyage is going to some amazing places! Some repeat ports he is looking forward to experiencing again are Croatia and Costa Rica.
Dennis is currently the Associate Director for Residential Engagement at California State University, Fullerton in the position he actually interviewed for while at sea sailing back from Costa Rica. Originally from North Carolina, Dennis received his BSBA in Business Management and MA degree in College Student Development from Appalachian State University. His love for beaches and mountains shows in his resume as he spent three years in San Diego and four years in Denver Colorado. San Diego State University was a great place to start his career and his time at the University of Denver was his last full time experience before the Fall 2015 voyage.
Semester at Sea was a life changing experience for Dennis. The knowledge he gained from each port, excursion, and person he met has stayed with him to this day. After the voyage, Dennis found himself looking at life through broader lenses. This changed outlook lead to opportunities he would have been hesitant to take before the Fall 2015 voyage. Dennis is also looking forward to meeting all of the Fall 2019 voyagers and engaging with folks at sea. The last time he learned how to play pinochle and really got into the Zumba classes that were taught. Dennis is open to the endless possibilities of this voyage. See you soon!
