Mohammed Hirchi is Associate Professor of Arabic and French at Colorado State University. Originally from Morocco, he studied in Switzerland and France before completing his BA, MA and PhD at Indiana University and his MBA at Colorado State. Mohammed teaches courses in Arabic language, Middle Eastern & North African Cinema, and Arabic Language, Literature & Culture in Translation. He developed CSU’s Arabic program and co-directed a major grant project to enhance International Studies and Arabic. He has led students on summer study abroad programs in Morocco and France and has traveled to nine countries in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region.
Professor Hirchi has published on Maghrebian and French literature and cinema. In 2013 he received a Fulbright research grant for a comparative study of Moroccan and Jordanian cinemas that focuses on the representation of urban space.
