Duane J. Osheim A Fellow of the American Academy in Rome with a Ph.D. in History from the University of California at David, Duane Osheim is professor of history and former associate dean in the Graduate School at the University of Virginia. He has held American Council of Learned Societies, American Philosophical Society, National Endowment for the Humanities, and Fulbright Fellowships. A scholar of social and cultural history, he is author and editor of A Tuscan Monastery and Its Social World; and Chronicling History: Chroniclers and Historians in Medieval and Renaissance Italy. He looks forward to comparing the cultures of Northern Europe to the Mediterranean world.
