Eduardo (Eddie) Díaz is currently working in Iowa City as the Assistant Executive Director for his fraternity, Sigma Lambda Beta. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, he is a first generation college student blessed to still have both his parents and his four younger siblings.
He completed a B.S. and B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Psychology and Spanish respectively. Upon graduation from Illinois, he worked for two years at his alma mater as a program manager in student activities with the Illini Union Board and with student leadership development at the Illinois Leadership® Center.
Eddie, then, earned his Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from Loyola University Chicago. During his time at Loyola, he served as a graduate hall director, completed an internship at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and studied in Rome, Italy through Loyola’s study abroad program.
Professionally, Eddie has served as the Assistant Dean of Students at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as a Resident Director at Boston College, and a Program Advisor at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Eddie’s future plans are to pursue a Ph.D. in Counseling to better serve students and help them find their place in the world.
He is very excited to return to Semester at Sea after serving as the Assistant Dean of Students of the 100th voyage in fall 2009. He is humbled to serve as the Dean of Students for the 50th Anniversary voyage this fall 2013.
