Elizabeth Denton has been teaching fiction writing workshops and courses on the contemporary short story to undergraduate students at UVA for the past twelve years. She is the author of the short story collection, Kneeling on Rice. Her most recent stories have appeared in The Kenyon Review, The Massachusetts Review, Virginia Quarterly Reviewand The Yale Review, where her story won The Yale Review Prize. She’s a fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and has won several grants from the Virginia Council for the Arts. She has written two screenplays and has, most recently, completed a second collection of stories. She received her MFA from Columbia University and taught briefly at Yale University and City College before moving to Virginia. She is currently at work on a novel. She sailed with SAS in the spring of 2008 and is very excited to be returning.
