Ellen Ramsey is Knowledge Integration Manager at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Library. She works with a diverse and talented team of librarians on education, innovation, and library services for groups in academic and clinical areas. Ellen received her undergraduate degree in International Studies from the College of William and Mary and spent her early career coordinating scholarly research in China. In 1996, she came to the University of Virginia to administer programs and mentor students at what is now the Lorna Sundberg International Center. A 2000 M.Ed. degree from the University’s Curry School of Education completed her career transition to technology and information in higher education. Since coming to the Health Sciences Library in 2004, she has focused on instructional technology, education, and evolution of library services. Ellen first encountered Semester at Sea students in Beijing during her own study abroad, and is delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the unique information needs of the voyage, especially during a semester where the academic dean brings a focus on healthcare in the global context. She is looking forward to a large dose of immersive librarianship while working, living, and traveling as part of the Semester at Sea community.
