Emily currently works as the Learning Community Coordinator for the Sophomore Success program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Before starting her job at Cal Poly in July 2008, she worked as a Resident Director for four years at the University of California, Riverside. She has her Bachelors of Art in English Literature (02) from UC Riverside and her Masters in Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs from the University of Southern California (04). Within the realm of education, her passions include access to education (discovered while working with Upward Bound as an undergraduate student), creating communities and opportunities for students to connect (discovered through her work with themed housing and learning communities) and allowing students to discover their passions. She is a self-proclaimed Geek, enjoys spending time with her nephews and nieces and is always up for a trip to Disneyland. This is Emily’s first voyage with Semester at Sea and she is lucky to be experiencing this with her husband Jacques. Having never studied abroad or grown up traveling, Emily is looking forward to challenging herself and sharing this adventure with the students, staff, and faculty on this voyage.
