Freya Potempa is a writer and adventurer who believes that wonder is transformative and that the right story can change everything. She’s had a passport since she was two years old, and is thrilled to combine her loves of travel and words with Semester at Sea.
A graduate of Columbia College Chicago in journalism, she’s been a beat reporter for a scrappy Chicago newspaper, offbeat arts feature writer for glossy consumer magazines, social media consultant for teen pop idols, copywriter for trade and consumer brands, managing editor of travel publications, and communications manager for multi-state non-profits. Currently a freelance writer and consultant, Freya works with small businesses to help them find their voice online and in print. Her words have appeared internationally, including The Huffington Post and Morgunblaðið, Iceland’s prestigious newspaper.
This will be Freya’s first voyage with Semester at Sea, and she’s thrilled to share the stories of the places and adventures that await the Fall 2015 participants!
Freya calls Nashville, TN, home, with her husband Keith, a fiction writer and teacher, who will be joining her on the voyage.
