Geno Carr

Grossmont College

Geno Carr is a San Diego based actor, singer, director, and educator who originated the role of Oz & Others in the Tony Award-winning hit musical Come From Away. He performed the role over 1200 times on Broadway, the North American Tour, in Toronto, Washington DC, and the world premiere production at the La Jolla Playhouse.

He has appeared Off-Broadway, on five national tours, and in over one hundred productions across North America. Geno has directed plays and musicals at Sarah Lawrence College, Stephens College, Grossmont College, Hartwick College, Heritage Theatre Festival, and Moonlight Youth Theatre.

In addition to serving for two years as Assistant Professor of Theatre and Guest Artist at Stephens College, he has also served on the faculties of Grossmont College, MiraCosta College, and taught on two voyages with Semester at Sea (Fall 2010 and Summer 2014). He has taught with Broadway Classroom, Believe NYC, and Junior Tours, served as Co-Director of Education for San Diego Musical Theatre Academy, and taught at North Coast Repertory Theatre, North County School of the Arts, and Youth Performing Arts School. In addition, he has worked in the entertainment departments at SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo/Safari Park and served as a Speaker Coach for Google Cloud and TedX.

Geno holds an MFA in Acting and Directing from Sarah Lawrence College, a dual BA in Music and Theatre from Hartwick College, and is a member of Actors’ Equity Association and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
